Instead, your BAT balance is calculated locally as part of your Brave Rewards data. Your BAT balance (if you have an unverified wallet) is not tied to the key anymore, either (as of v1.3). It's not associated with an "on-chain" Ethereum or Bitcoin private key, although it is derivable with the BIP39 mnemonic standard. We just get the basic permissions for transaction purposes, like your address and the ability to send/receive transactions (for tips).Īs for the private key, it is not linked to your Uphold account. Basically, Brave is just an "authorized app" that you authorize with your Uphold account. One other follow up question, I've just verified my wallet, does Uphold get sent any metadata/analytical data from the Brave Browser?
